Apple has introduced its latest M4-powered iMac in India, priced from Rs 1,34,900 (Rs 1,24,900 for students). Available in colours like green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver, the new iMac combines Apple's M4 chip with macOS Sequoia 15.1 and adds "Apple Intelligence," a set of AI-powered features aimed at enhancing productivity and creativity.
“iMac is beloved by millions of users, from families at home to entrepreneurs hard at work. With the incredible features of Apple Intelligence and the powerful performance of Apple silicon, the new iMac changes the game once again,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “With M4 and Apple Intelligence, gorgeous new colours that pop in any space, an advanced 12MP Center Stage camera, and a new nano-texture glass display option, it’s a whole new era for iMac.”
At the centre of the new iMac is Apple’s M4 chip, which offers a 40 per cent improvement in CPU performance and doubles graphics capabilities compared to the M1. This boost is beneficial for users engaged in tasks like video editing, graphic design, and multitasking. Starting configurations include an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16GB of memory (expandable to 24GB), and a 256GB SSD (expandable up to 1TB) for Rs 1,34,900. The higher-end version, starting at Rs 1,54,900 (Rs 1,44,900 for students), comes with a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and up to a 2TB SSD.
With the release of macOS Sequoia 15.1, Apple has introduced Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI tools designed to streamline tasks and provide assistance. Integrated with ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence enables real-time AI support for tasks like idea generation, research, and drafting within existing workflows. This setup allows users to complete tasks more efficiently without needing to switch between applications.
The updated Siri, part of Apple Intelligence, now provides more tailored suggestions, automates routines, and offers responses based on user habits. Together, Siri and ChatGPT integration aim to make the iMac more adaptable to the daily needs of users, especially for those juggling work and personal responsibilities.
Apple Intelligence also includes advanced writing tools that assist with grammar, style, and text suggestions, compatible with apps like Notes, Pages, and Keynote. Another addition, “Genmoji,” enables users to create personalised avatars—useful for social media, presentations, and other digital communications.
The new “Image Playground” feature is a photo editing and illustration tool that provides context-aware enhancements, background editing, and lighting adjustments. Image Playground is accessible to both beginners and experienced users, offering a straightforward approach to editing without requiring professional software.
The iMac’s 24-inch 4.5K Retina display supports over a billion colours and offers an optional nano-texture glass finish to reduce glare, making it suitable for diverse work environments. The device is equipped with a six-speaker system with spatial audio, studio-quality microphones, and a 12MP Centre Stage camera that tracks the user during video calls.
Running on macOS, the iMac integrates with other Apple devices through features like Handoff, Universal Control, and AirDrop, creating a connected experience for those using multiple Apple products.
The M4 iMac is available for pre-order on apple.com/store and will be in stores on November 8. The base model is priced at Rs 1,34,900, and the enhanced version starts at Rs 1,54,900, with discounts for educational buyers.
With its performance-focused M4 chip, AI-driven Apple Intelligence, and creative tools like Genmoji and Image Playground, the new iMac offers a range of updates aimed at simplifying both work and creative projects for Indian users.
