Bharti Airtel’s CEO Gopal Vittal has said that Apple will be releasing the necessary software update in November for its devices and all of them should support Airtel’s 5G services by mid-December.
Earlier in October, Apple had said that 5G will be enabled via a software update and will start rolling out to iPhone users in December.
Apple in the statement had said, "We are working with our carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed."
Speaking on 5G support amongst Samsung phones, Vittal said that all 5G-enabled devices should be able to tap into the Airtel high-speed 5G by November 10-12.
During the earnings call, Vittal also said that 5G services by Airtel is currently being provided at 4G rates but will be mostly be revised in the next six to nine months. Airtel plans to have 5G coverage pan-India by March 2024.
