In the annual World Happiness Report, Finland was named the happiest nation in the world. They have received the coveted prize for the sixth year in a row due to high scores in the variables used by the report to evaluate happiness: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and low corruption.
The study was made public on Monday, which is International Day of Happiness. India is rated 126th in the world in terms of happiness.
According to CNN, the World Happiness Report is a publication of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network that is based on global survey data from individuals in more than 150 countries.
This year's list is similar to previous rankings, with many Nordic nations at the top. While Denmark is rated second, Iceland is ranked third.
“The Nordic nations merit special attention in view of their generally high levels of both personal and institutional trust. They also had Covid-19 death rates that were one-third that of the rest of Western Europe in 2020 and 2021- 27 per 100,000 in the Nordic nations compared to 80 in the rest of Western Europe,” the report's authors wrote in the document.
According to one of the authors, John Helliwell, “benevolence to others, especially stranger assistance, which increased dramatically in 2021, remained high in 2022.”
“Even during these trying times, positive emotions have remained twice as prevalent as negative ones, and feelings of positive social support have remained twice as strong as feelings of loneliness,” the author added.
India, one of the fastest-growing economies, was ranked 126th in the study, trailing Nepal, China, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Surprisingly, the Russia-Ukraine war led both countries' rankings to fall. Ukraine is rated 92nd, while Russia is ranked 72nd.
