In August, H Venkateshwarlu was found unconscious in his official residence. He was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation and revived in a private hospital in Kanhangad. Later, he was shifted to Aster MIMS in Kannur, where he was under critical care for nearly a month. In mid-September, his family airlifted him to Hyderabad where he was admitted to an ICU.
Late H. Venkateshwarlu, vice-chancellor at the Central University of Kerala previously served as the professor of commerce at Osmania University, Hyderabad for 25 years. He was a specialist in marketing management and holds M.Com., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. He has also written books on supply chain management, corporate communication, marketing management and new developments in the banking industry. He has also authored 10 books.

Late H. Venkateshwarlu has won several honours such as the Best Teacher Award from the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh in 2010, ICSSR Teacher and the creation of ‘Prerana’- a student awareness and motivation programme has won awards in Telangana State for the past 20 years.
He was the executive Vice President for nine years within the Indian Commerce Association. He has worked for the National Academy of Development in Hyderabad as a Joint Director. He was supervising six research scholars pursuing doctorates, guided 25 research scholars at the doctoral level and five at the M.Phil. level. He gave talks at around fifty universities across the nation. He has served as an editorial advisor to several journals.
H. Venkateshwarlu has visits to several American Universities such as Princeton, Stanford, Wharton Business School and San Diego. He has also served as a subject matter expert for the UPSC, AICTE and University Grants Commission.
