Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Friday announced that it would increase its investment in Telangana from its previously committed Rs 20,096 crore in 2020 to Rs 36,300 crore by 2030. The company has declared this in one of the highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Telangana.
AWS will invest in its three Hyderabad data centre campuses at Chandanvelly, Pharma City and Fab City in different phases. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the AWS Empower India event which was held at the Hyderabad International Conven Centre (HICC).
According to details, these centres would help AWS to strengthen its cloud infrastructure to better serve its Indian and overseas clients. All three data centres have completed their initial phases.
IT minister KT Rama Rao and IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan expressed their happiness over the extended investment. KTR said that we are glad to see Amazon expanding its investment in Hyderabad Data Centres, making it one of the largest FDIs coming into state.
Hyderabad has been a preferred destination for Amazon in India. Hyderabad has AWS's largest campus in the world and also has Amazon's first one of its largest fulfillment centres.
