India should work to establish itself as a centre for software products after demonstrating its expertise in the industry, President Droupadi Murmu said on Saturday.
Speaking at the 7th Digital India Awards, Murmu recommended democratisation of public data to encourage the nation's tech enthusiasts in creating locally relevant digital solutions.
She said that by developing 'Made in India' technology, one should take advantage of the current policies and the environment to establish the nation as a global leader in software and hardware products.
She claimed that, particularly during the outbreak, India has become a key player in the use of technology for people-centric governance, which has benefited the rest of the globe as well.
Murmu said that the rise of digital India is assisting in increasing India's prominence on the global level.
This becomes much more important as India assumes the G20 presidency, a significant event, she added.
According to her, India has introduced 5G technology that was built domestically, and the introduction of 5G services will alter the governance.
Murmu suggested that the goal should be to democratise government data so that young technology geeks can use it to create localised digital solutions.
