Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the ‘Make in India’ initiative, underscoring its role in propelling India’s economy on the international stage.
PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the success story of the initiative by reposting a post by MyGovIndia that mentioned how local crafts are making a global impact.
In his post, PM wrote, “A glimpse of how ‘Make in India’ is propelling India’s economy onto the global stage!”
MyGovIndia, in its original post, cited various news publications while adding a report. The post stated, “From Local Craft to Global Impact: The Made In India success story. The Made in India initiative showcases the phenomenal success of Indian-made products globally. From Indian bicycles to digital payments, India is taking the world by storm with its products. Learn about the journey of Made in India as it transforms international markets and captures global attention.”
MyGovIndia referred to media reports of increasing global demand for Made in India bicycles. It also added that ‘Made in Bihar’ boots now find a place in the gear of the Russian army. It mentioned the report which showcased the high demand for Kashmir willow bats during the cricket world cup.
The post also hailed the expansion of Amul in the United States. MyGovIndia wrote, “Amul is taking India's unique flavors to the world, launching its products in the US. This international expansion highlights the global appeal of Indian dairy products and Amul's commitment to spreading the taste of India worldwide.”
The original post also celebrated the success of the unified payment interface (UPI) by adding that the UPI is now a global phenomenon that is enabling seamless digital payments in multiple countries.
Centre introduced the Make in India initiative on 25 September 2014 to facilitate investment, foster investment and make India a hub for manufacturing, design and innovation. The initiative presently focuses on 27 sectors under Make in India 2.0.
