Ahmedabad-headquartered Ensight Business Solutions was launched in 2012 with the vision to make it the most admired IT company of Gujarat. It has grown by building proficiencies through ventures such as EmailMonks, WebbyMonks and Octos Solutions. Today, with offices in Sydney, Dallas and Amsterdam, and more than 6,000 customers across 76 countries, Ensight is one of the most promising digital services companies in the country. It boasts of clients such names as Disney, National Geographic, Shoppers Stop, Cambridge, DHL. While EmailMonks works in the email marketing domain, WebbyMonks specializes on the front-end web development with major focus on WordPress platform, and Octos Solutions works on search marketing. “Ensight has always been about its people. From a small team of 28 in 2012 to around 500 as we speak, our philosophy of ‘People First’ has remained constant,” says Jaymin Bhuptani, Director.
On profits over people and vice-versa
Profit is always integral to any successful business, and people are at the heart of a business. In today’s world, it’s all about the people you hire, engage, grow, and retain. As they only can help you meet the organisational aspirations. At Ensight, people form the basis of all our key decisions. We always ask ourselves questions like: “What can we do to realize the dreams of our people?”, “How would it impact our people?” In the shorter run, an organization can maximise its profit at the expense of people and people practices. However, for sustained business, revenue, and profits, it is imperative that you realize the value of the people aspects and the impact any compromise thereof is going to bring.
On what makes Ensight a great place to work
We work on getting the right people in our organisation and then creating an environment where they can thrive. A key consideration while hiring is getting the right cultural fit. While the technical and domain proficiencies matter, assessing cultural fit is a ‘make or break’ decision. Being a great place to work is not just something that we, being certified once, are content with. For us, it is a journey that we must put our heart and soul in.
On the company’s evolution
Ensight has always been about its people. From a small team of 28 in 2012 to around 500 as we speak, our philosophy of ‘people first’ has remained constant. However, we have had to look at scalable people solutions off late. The initial few years was about organic growth, where the people practices were never formalized. However, we still took care of our people. As we grow, there is a lot more order to our people practices. We have implemented processes and policy framework for various people aspects. We are fast evolving and investing in infrastructure, tools and training for our people.
On people philosophy
From client acquisition, project delivery, to customer service and success people are at the helm. With so much onus on people, it is imperative that the philosophy hinges around them. We take care of our people and they take care of our business. It is about empowering them, delegating decisions, equipping them with the right tools and skills, aligning them to the organizational vision and mission, trusting their judgments, and backing their decisions. I would also put an emphasis on cultivating a culture of taking calculated risks within our people. It’s not just about encouraging them to take risks or being audacious, but more about backing them and learning when a risk doesn’t pay off.
On the company’s legacy
I would like Ensight to be known as an organization that stands out for maximising the value proposition for our customers and people at the same time. That would require us to grow very fast, delight our customers, ensuring that our quality and productivity are at the highest level.
On the future road map
These are exciting times at Ensight. We are at a stage where we shed our startup tag and take it to the next level. We know that what brought us here won’t take us to the next level. Our aspiration is to up the ante for all our business domains and scale them up in their respective direction as we move ahead. We would be chasing bigger avenues, creating bigger opportunities, and adding more people to our family.
