Xiaomi has launched their new selfie-centric smartphone Redmi S2 in China. The handset is also company’s first smartphone under ‘Redmi S’ series. Major highlights of the smartphone includes 16-megapixel front camera with AI capabilities, Dual rear camera, 18:9 display, and Snapdragon 625 processor.
Redmi S2 prices starts from CNY 999 (roughly Rs 10,600) for 3GB RAM variant and CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs 13,800) for 4GB RAM variant. It comes in three body shades- champagne gold, rose gold, and platinum silver.
Xiaomi Redmi S2 comes in two RAM+Storage variants 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. The storage on both variants is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD.
Redmi S2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It runs on MIUI 9 based on Android.
The handset has a 5.99-inch FHD (1440x720) with 18:9 aspect ratio and 70.8 % NTSC colour gamut.
Talking about optics, it sports a dual camera setup at the rear which has 16-megapixel+5-megapixel sensors with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash. The rear camera is touted to have AI Portrait mode, HDR, and Panoramic mode. On the front is a 16-megapixel selfie snapper with AI Portrait mode.
The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,080mAh battery. For security, this phone has face recognition and houses a rear mounted fingerprint sensor. It measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm and weighs 170 grams.
