Olympic champion and India's strongest medal hope at the World Athletics Championship, Neeraj Chopra qualified for his maiden World Championships final with a stunning first attempt throw of 88.39m.
The 24-year-old Indian athlete posted his third career-best throw to qualify through a 'one-and-done' automatic qualification. The final round of the Men's Javelin event takes place on Sunday.
Neeraj is India's hope for the country's second medal at the premier athletics event, with Anju Bobby George being the sole torch bearer for the event in the country with her bronze medal in the 2003 edition.
