China's toughened internet control laws have resulted in social media platform, WeChat, shutting down a Bloomberg social media account, 'Bloomberg Daybreak'. China accuses the company of violating the country's regulations on online public accounts.
According to South China Morning Post, Tencent-owned WeChat said it had received "complaints" about Bloomberg's "Daybreak" account, which publishes global market updates and news.
"All content has been blocked and the account has been suspended," a message read on the blocked account, alongside regulations issued by the Cyberspace Administration of China.
It is still unclear what content triggered the account's closure. Tencent and Bloomberg did not comment on the development.
