Studiokon Ventures in association with Workplace Trends organized a conclave focusing on people, place, and performance. To understand how technology has evolved over the years in the corporate sector, Tushar Mittal, MD, SKV, interacted Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Stressing on the Job opportunities in the workplace sector, Mittal asked the minister there are lots of opportunities in the interior workplace sector; if we focus on data then around Rs 7000 crore opportunities are available in Delhi-NCR. And Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai have reached to Rs 30,000 crore in the job market.”
He further said that he doesn’t believe in a job crisis. Because there are jobs but not for unskilled people. What is your take on this?
Minister responded by stating “Our government works on the ideology of minimum government and maximum governance. It means we are inviting you to create lots of opportunities. We stand with the Real estate sector and providing support at every step. I am traveling to various states to understand the real problems and then we work on solutions. Our government wants people to come up and break the barriers and contribute to sector and we are continuously working for it.”
Stressing on startup culture, Mittal asked “In India, IT-based business is only considered as startups. There are lots of work like constructions, tender based work, Design and small businesses which are still not considered as startups. How the government is planning to manage these problems?
Elaborating on the government steps Minister replied “We have construction and design council to support the tender based work. We are trying continuously to improve quality. To support the small businesses, we are offering relaxation in rules and urging them to come forward and make your effort count.”
Minister further added “we are trying to provide flexible structure to develop skills. We have studied lots of models from other countries and trying to implement them in India in every possible way. We are now going to launch Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) phase III to provide skills with integrated knowledge. In this phase, we will provide Traditional and regular skills with the addition of entrepreneurship training.”
