Vivo has introduced its feature-packed V40 series in India, with prices starting at Rs 34,999. The new lineup, consisting of the Vivo V40 and Vivo V40 Pro, boasts impressive specifications, including large AMOLED displays, powerful processors, and advanced camera systems. This launch marks Vivo’s attempt to capture the premium mid-range market in India with competitive pricing and high-end features.
The Vivo V40 is available in three configurations:
• 8GB RAM/128GB storage: Rs 34,999
• 8GB RAM/256GB storage: Rs 36,999
• 12GB RAM/512GB storage: Rs 41,999 (pricing for this variant to be confirmed)
The more premium Vivo V40 Pro is offered in two variants:
• 8GB RAM/256GB storage: Rs 49,999
• 12GB RAM/512GB storage: Rs 55,999
Both devices feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and an impressive peak brightness of 4500 nits. The screens support 1 billion colours and offer a 480Hz touch sampling rate for improved responsiveness.
The Vivo V40 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.63 GHz. It features a dual rear camera setup with two 50MP sensors, both equipped with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). The front camera is also a 50MP unit capable of 4K video recording at 30fps.
The Vivo V40 Pro steps up the performance with a Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ processor and Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU. Its camera system is more advanced, featuring a triple rear setup: a 50MP wide lens, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. All cameras benefit from Zeiss optics and T* lens coating. The front camera is also a 50MP shooter.
Both models run on Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 and are equipped with a 5,500 mAh battery supporting 80W fast charging. They also feature IP68 water and dust resistance, allowing submersion up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes.

With this launch, Vivo aims to strengthen its position in the premium mid-range smartphone segment in India, offering high-end features at competitive price points. As per the latest Counterpoint Research report, it has consolidated its number 2 position behind Xiaomi in India, with Samsung right behind it.
