Google may soon introduce a function that removes duplicate notifications across various Android devices. This development stems from the most recent Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 release, which apparently hints at a ‘sync across devices’ feature that would allow alerts to be marked as read on all devices at the same time.
Currently, Android users endure the annoyance of viewing the same notice on multiple devices after interacting with it on one. Because of the lack of synchronisation between devices, notifications tagged as read on one device remain unread on others. According to Android Authority, Google is addressing this issue through a probable new feature in Android 15.
The upgrade, which appeared in last week's QPR1 Beta 2, mentions a ‘sync across devices’ capability. It was discovered alongside current notification options, such as ‘sensitive notifications’ and the recently added ‘notification cooldown.’ The inclusion of this feature in the code implies that users will soon be able to sync their notification status across all Android devices, optimising the user experience.
According to the Android Authority article, this new option could result in the creation of a dedicated page within the Google Play Services app. This would enable users to manage notification synchronisation across several Android devices more efficiently. While there has been no official confirmation from Google, it is thought that the functionality will be available across the entire Android ecosystem, rather than just Pixel devices, representing a huge advance in notification management.
