The Uttar Pradesh government presented a supplementary budget of over Rs 12,909 crore for the 2024-25 financial year in the assembly on Tuesday. This supplementary budget, which amounts to Rs 12,909.93 crore, constitutes 1.66 per cent of the original budget of Rs 7.36 trillion presented in February this year, according to State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.
Khanna detailed the allocation, noting that the expenditure on the revenue account is Rs 4,227.94 crore, while the expenditure on the capital account stands at Rs 7,981.99 crore.
Key allocations in the supplementary budget include Rs 7,500.18 crore for industrial development, Rs 2,000 crore for the energy department, and Rs 1,000 crore for the purchase of buses by the transport department.
The urban development department's Amrit Yojana is set to receive Rs 600 crore, while the Uttar Pradesh Skill Mission has been allocated Rs 200 crore for short-term programs.
Additionally, Rs 100 crore has been designated for rural stadiums and open gyms. In the education sector, Rs 28.40 crore has been proposed for establishing labs in 284 government inter-colleges under the secondary education department, and Rs 66.82 crore for setting up labs in 1,040 government secondary schools.
The budget includes Rs 74.90 crore for various schemes under the culture department, Rs 53.15 crore for the establishment of Atal residential schools, and Rs 2.79 crore for the maintenance of residential and non-residential buildings in these schools.
Khanna emphasised that this supplementary budget is designed to bolster development across various sectors, enhancing infrastructure and services for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
