Twitter is now going to give its users the option of toggling captions for its video player. The feature will be available on its iOS and Android applications. This means that if video captions are available, users would be able to choose if they want to see captions or not.
Twitter has been testing the feature for iOS and Android that allows caption toggle and now it is ready to roll out for its users. The social media giant began testing the feature in April.
While twitter had rolled out automatic captioning feature for Twitter videos in December 2021, now the users will be able turn it on or off faster the captions by clicking on the “CC” button as a video is playing.
But how is it different from automatic captioning? The closed captions will include proper transcription embedded by creators that can be toggled on or off via CC button. This is different from automated caption system. So, the CC button isn’t exactly an option to switch on automatic captioning.
