Mukundh Bhushan, Founder & CEO, and A. Mukundh's journey is very unique as a young visionary and entrepreneur. His inspiration has roots since his childhood in Melbourne, Australia. Watching National Geographic documentaries and Disney and Pixar movies, his curiosity pondered what made them universally appealing, transcending age, language, and cultural boundaries. He harboured a dream of creating something truly unique and versatile that captivates people. In discussions with his father, he perceived some clues about transformative nature, attributing magic and creativity to technology.
His annual trips to India offered a fresh lens to view dynamics, driven by factors such as people, culture and technology usage. Yet, amidst the myriads of experiences, he started to build concepts of customer-centricity due to prevalence of temporary fixes, fragmented systems, and disconnected processes.
Driven by a passion to express himself and empowered by a desire for autonomy, at the tender age of 15, he approached his father with aspirations to start a company, only to be advised to wait until gaining more experience and knowledge.
Finally, at the age of 19, Mukundh started Nebutech Analytics in India, with his mother as partner, which marked the beginning of an entrepreneurial odyssey. Now at 24 years, he ventured Threadality Technologies, having a footprint in three countries. Mukundh’s endeavours have been marked by a relentless pursuit of venturing by himself and making an impact by virtue of his journey.
Products for future
Mukundh's key philosophy is that architectural products are interconnected while designed to work independently. His passion is to build on latest trends of technology like OpenAPIs,
Cloud, AI&ML while having different business models to serve customers from small scale
to enterprises. His vision is to create an indigenous solution that enables organisations to focus on their core business while serving on the important aspects of executing their business operations.
His flagship product is Byrds designed and built to revolutionise and democratise corporate environmental sustainability initiatives. It fosters transparency and accountability with simple integration into core business operations.
Another brainchild, Cornerqube , offers a streamlined B2B CRM platform that empowers businesses with valuable insights, enhancing client and partner management.
Greyffiti facilitates a secure approach to graphical information versioning and sharing. It is for short film takers to graphic designers across the world. Feddup is to provide feedback and suggestions on webapps and track them. It is different from current fragmented feedback systems based on rating that can be manipulated.
Beyond business entrepreneurship, Mukundh champions social responsibility through his initiatives En4ce where he mentors children in programming and communication.
Focus on Branding and Investment
While the product was taking shape, his focus turned to three things: branding, investment, and market. Establishing brand value, especially for products originating from India, presented its own set of challenges. Recognizing the importance of foreign branding for initial trust-building, he launched a startup for Threadality Technologies, in the United States (USA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Protecting intellectual property became a priority in the face of imitation attempts, leading to the implementation of trademarks, copyrights, ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certifications, and patent applications.
Raising investment externally had challenges due to the pandemic situation and limited access to real investors aligned to launch a new line of products. He had to maintain independence from pseudo societal norms associated with the traditional approach of raising investment. Feedback often centred on personal attributes rather than the product, with occasional suggestions to seek alternatives like selling product ideas and making quick money. This sporadic feedback landscape reinforced the need for resilience and aim for the products to bring investment based on merit.
Achievements
His efforts and work is recognised, and as a testimony, he was featured in Silicon India magazine and invited by GIBF for an investor meet in Mauritius. During this event, he built profound relationships with investment directors. He was also a speaker at the Business India meet in Mumbai.
Mukundh is very proud of his mother, who relentlessly made efforts beyond her capability. She is part of his reverse mentoring exercise, where he could teach her technology elements like APIs, UI/UX, testing, and so on, which she learned. Today, she independently interacts with team members and drives delivery.
For aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs, Mukundh penned an insightful book, "Think the Luna Way" It is written in a simple graphical representation with his personal experiences, acting as a roadmap offering valuable insights, tools, and techniques.
Inclusive Work Culture
High costs and expectations in a startup-hyped environment made direct recruitment difficult, especially with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Forced to adapt, he turned to consultants and graduates trained to design, emphasising a culture of mutual discovery and innovation.
With the team in place, he faced the daunting task of building products while fostering a cohesive and innovative culture. Embracing a values-driven approach, encapsulated by TEAMS (Transparent, Excellence, Accountable, Motivate, Sociable), he sought to cultivate an environment conducive to creativity and collaboration. By empowering his team for open communication, he overcame challenges and witnessed tangible improvements in product quality and team dynamics.
When asked about having a motivated workforce Mukundh adds, "It means that they will be proactive. So, we give extra attention to onboarding our people. It is continuous learning during product development, trying out new things and shaping to the latest industry trends.
Every product that we come up with is considered a startup of its own, and this allows us to get more attached to it and give our best. This is the same I wrote in my book also.”
