At the Q4 FY24 post earnings press conference, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) revealed impressive growth and traction in their AI initiatives, particularly within their AI.cloud business unit.
K Krithivasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TCS, disclosed that the company has experienced a surge in engagements, securing over 200 AI projects since the beginning of the year.
We have won more than 200 engagements in AI so far this year. The number of engagements going into production is steadily increasing. Our AI and Generative AI pipeline has doubled in the quarter to USD 900 million,” said K Krithivasan.
Krithivasan stressed the significant expansion of TCS’s AI and Generative AI pipeline, which has doubled in the quarter to reach a value of USD 900 million. This growth shows the increasing demand for TCS’s AI solutions and services in the marketplace.
Speaking during the press conference, N Ganapathy Subramaniam, the outgoing Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director at TCS, provided insights into the strategic integration of AI into the company’s larger transformation and efficiency programmes.
“AI deals … are not eating into the other typical spend that we do. Most of the AI deals are typically embedded into the large transformation programmes or efficiency programs that we undertake,” he said.
Subramaniam highlighted that most AI deals are embedded within these programmes, focusing on improving decision-making processes and enhancing efficiencies for both customers and internal departments.
While TCS continues to explore the deployment of AI in customer-facing applications, Subramaniam stressed the importance of responsible and authentic AI solutions. He noted that while such deployments are under experimentation, TCS remains cautious due to considerations surrounding regulation and authenticity.
