Tata Power Renewable Energy Generation Capacity Jumps 460% In FY17

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has registered 460 per cent jump in its generation capacity for the financial year (FY) 2016-17 when compared with 2015-16. The company generated 1440 MUs in FY17 as against 329 MUs in FY16.

TPREL is the primary vehicle through which Tata Power’s investments in renewable energy (wind and solar) capacity are driven, the company said in a press statement. The company proposes to grow its capacity through organic and inorganic means over the next few years.

TPREL completed commissioning of 100 MW wind farm at Nimbagallu, Andhra Pradesh and 50 MW Rojmal Phase – II in Gujarat and 15 MW solar plant in Belampally, Telangana in last quarter of FY17 (January-March, 2017).

Rahul Shah, CEO, TPREL said, “We will continue to look for opportunities to acquire operating wind and solar plants, apart from our own organic growth pipeline, to grow our generation portfolio.”

Tata Power’s vision is to have 30-40 per cent of the company’s total generation capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2025.
