Snapchat has launched its premium subscription plan for its users. Called Snapchat+, the subscription will allow users to access exclusive features like the ability to change the app icon.
Snapchat has turned a fresh page in its book with the roll out of Snapchat+, the premium subscription. The subscription brings with it a collection of exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features available in Snapchat for USD 3.99/month.
With Snapchat+, users can now change the style of the app’s icon, and view who’s re-watched their story. Users can also pin their friends to top of their chat history by designating them as “BFF”.
Currently, the premium subscription is being rolled out in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Snapchat+ will be launched in more geographies over time.
The launch of the premium subscription plan comes at a good time as Snapchat posted a net loss of USD 360 million in Q1 2022, compared to USD 287 million last year. This happened despite the company growing its community by 18 per cent year-over-year to reach 332 million.
