The State Bank of India (SBI) has unveiled a self-subscribing facility for enrolment under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana (PMSBY) schemes for SBI customers.
The functionality enables customers to enrol under the schemes at their convenience without visiting the branch or customer service point. The customer needs to key in the account number and date of birth on Jan Suraksha portal and select the Bank. The certificate of insurance is generated instantly on payment of premium.
Introducing the service offering, Dinesh Khara, Chairman, SBI emphasised the bank’s efforts in leveraging technology to boost offerings that ensure customer empowerment and said, “The facility will provide impetus to the Government of India’s drive of covering all eligible citizens under PMJJBY & PMSBY schemes.”
As of December 2023, SBI has a deposit base of over Rs 47.62 lakh crore with current account savings account (CASA) ratio of 41.18 per cent and advances of more than Rs 35.84 lakh crore. SBI has a market share of 26.5 per cent and 19.5 per cent in home loans and auto loans respectively.
