Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the celebrations of Digital India Week which is being held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The event saw the participation of over 200 stalls that showcased digital solutions and emerging technologies.
Kick-starting the Digital India Week, PM Modi said India was leading the way for the world in Industry 4.0. In attendance were noted dignitaries including Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel, Minister of Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
The event saw participation of 1500 beneficiaries of Digital India initiative. There were over 200 stalls set up at the Digital Mela showcasing digital solutions, some of them were visited by the PM.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics & IT, Communications and Railways addressed the audience and spoke on the three pillars of Digital India including Startup India, eGovernance, and Electronics Manufacturing, which has created lakhs of jobs.
Meanwhile, Bhupendra Patel, CM of Gujarat remarked that by generating an automated cycle of planning, implementation, and feedback, Digital India has given a direction to the government with changing times. He also talked about various governance initiatives that the government of Gujarat has successfully implemented in the last 2.5 decades.
The PM also launched several Digital India initiatives, including India Stack: indiastack.global, MyScheme: Service Discovery Platform, MeriPehchaan: National Single Sign On (NSSO), Digital India Bhashini: Bhasha Daan, Digital India GENESIS and unveiled an eBook ‘Catalyzing New India’s Techade’. The first cohort of 30 institutions supported under the Chips to Startup (C2S) Programme was also announced.
