PM Modi on Sunday urged the innovators and startups in the country to take “full advantage” of the huge opportunities in the Indian space sector.
Speaking via his monthly radio broadcast "Mann Ki Baat", the PM said that since the space sector was opened for India’s youth, revolutionary changes have started coming in it.
He noted during his talk on ‘space’ that the country had recently put 36 satellites the orbit, referring to LVM3-M3 mission, which launched OneWeb India-1 satellites.
The PM said that success achieved just a day before Diwali was a “special Diwali gift” from the country’s youth to the country. “With this launching, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Kohima, in the whole country, digital connectivity will be further strengthened. With the help of this, even the remotest areas will be more easily connected with the rest of the country,” he added.
The launch of the rocket was an indication that India has emerged as a strong player in the global commercial (space) market, the PM observed.
He further expressed that Indian industries and startups are now engaged in bringing new innovations and new technologies in this field. “In particular, the collaboration of IN-SPACe is going to make a big difference in this area,” he said.
IN-SPACe is also enabling non-government companies get facilities to launch their payloads and satellites. “I would urge more and more startups and innovators to take full advantage of these huge opportunities being created in India in the space sector,” he said while concluding the topic of space.
During the “Mann Ki Baat”, the PM also congratulated citizens on 'Chhath', the festival of sun worship which is celebrated in many parts of the country.
