Pallavi Shroff, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas: Ease Of Managing Corporates
Pallavi S. Shroff, Managing Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, is an achiever in her own right. With over 36 years experience in various fields of law including competition law, litigation and arbitration and Competition Law, she is ranked as one of the top lawyers in the country. Recently, she joined the board the board of directors at One97 Communications Ltd, the holding company of Paytm and e-commerce firm Paytm Mall.
Paytm founder and chief executive officer Vijay Shekhar Sharma said that Shroff’s experience would be critical for the next phase of the company’s growth .
She is also on the board of directors of Maruti Suzuki India, Trident Group, Apollo Tyres, and Juniper Hotels. Shroff has also been regularly representing companies such as General Electric, Nestle, Havells, Vodafone, BHEL, ONGC and Vale Australia.
Recently, Shroff has also been awarded the “India Managing Partner of the Year” by ALB Asia Law Awards 2017.
Shroff had to wait for long before she got the top job. In 2015, brothers Shardul and Cyril decided to split Amarchand Mangaldas, which was one of the oldest law firms in the country. Subsequently, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas was formed in the same year.
Shroff started work in the early 80s. It was not easy for her and many clients showed their apprehensions as she was a woman. Shroff, one of the finest lawyers has said several times that she needed to work much harder and how clients waited to meet her lawyer husband Shardul.
