ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has launched the artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbot for Apple iOS users for free.
The wildly popular chatbot can sync iOS user’s history across devices and integrates ‘Whisper,’ OpenAI’s open-source speech-recognition system, enabling voice input.
Meanwhile, ChatGPT Plus subscribers will get exclusive access to GPT-4’s capabilities, early access to features and faster response times, on iOS.
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT just for iOS users in the US but access to more countries will be rolled out soon. The company also mentioned that an Android version can be expected very soon.
“We're starting our rollout in the US and will expand to additional countries in the coming weeks. We’re eager to see how you use the app. As we gather user feedback, we’re committed to continuous feature and safety improvements for ChatGPT,” said OpenAI in its announcement.
ChatGPT has been launched for iOS users at zero cost.
Interestingly, Apple itself has restricted the use of ChatGPT by its employees. The company has advised its workforce to not use the AI chatbot and other AI tools such as Microsoft-owned GitHub's Copilot, used to automate the writing of software code.
Earlier in May, it was reported that electronics major Samsung also warned its employees against using ChatGPT and other such AI-based tools at work.
