Nothing is reportedly set to debut its latest smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2) Plus, internationally on 31 July 2024. This news comes after the recent introduction of the CMF Phone 1. Although no precise facts regarding the new device have been leaked or officially confirmed, the corporation announced the launch date via a post on X (previously Twitter). Nothing India posted “Plus. More. Extra. An astonishing new smartphone is on its way. Get ready for the Phone (2a) Plus.”
The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus has already been included on the UAE's TDRA certification website, as well as on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Jio's list of 5G-compatible devices. According to the TDRA listing, the Phone (2a) Plus will have the model number A142P. Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, has hinted at intentions for the Phone (3) next year, therefore the Phone (2a) Plus is likely to provide considerable changes and features as an intermediate release.
Meanwhile, Nothing Phone (2a) costs Rs 23,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage model. It has an AMOLED display with a 1080x2412 (FHD+) resolution, a refresh rate of 30 to 120Hz and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display has a 10-bit colour depth and can achieve up to 1300 nits in brightness, with an average brightness of 700 nits and a peak of 1100 nits in direct sunlight. The phone comes with a dual stereo speaker arrangement and two HD microphones, as well as the Glyph Interface, which has three LED strips and 24 customisable zones. For photography, it sports a dual-camera arrangement with two 50MP sensors, while the front camera has a 32MP sensor for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, which was designed specifically for the Nothing Phone (2a). It has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It runs Android 14-based NothingOS 2.5, which promises a seamless user experience.
