Nikon India has released the Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.4, a full-frame, FX-format compatible Z mount lens. The lens is expected to be both affordable and portable, weighing 420 grammes and accommodating a wide range of photographic expressions.
The Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.4 features a 55 mm diameter mount, offering for more light intake and better flexibility. The lens has a maximum aperture of f/1.4, which allows photographers to capture shots with bokeh and a shallow depth of field, making it suitable for portrait, indoor and low-light photography. The lens allows detailed close-up photos with a minimum focus distance of 0.37 meters while preserving a clean background blur.
The lens is compatible with full-frame/FX-format mirrorless cameras and has a standard 50-mm angle of view, making it suitable for both landscape and portrait photography. The lens is intended to recreate depth and clarity with minimum colour fringing, making it a dependable choice for taking high-resolution photographs. The lens's stepping motor (STM) technology allows for fast and quiet autofocus operations, making it suitable for both still photography and video recording. The lens also decreases focus breathing by keeping a constant angle of view during focus adjustments, resulting in smooth video capture.
Lens’ 74.5 mm by 86.5 mm dimensions, offer enhanced mobility. The lens' lightweight design complements gimbal use by maintaining balance with minimum changing of the center of gravity, increasing its adaptability for video production.
The Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.4 features enhanced dust and leak resistance. Nikon has also added metal filter ring covers to improve build quality. The lens is planned to be available in Nikon stores throughout India by the end of September 2024 for Rs 79,995.
