Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has revealed that the state government plans to mandate the allocation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds towards education this year with an aim to address employment issues and promote job creation through industry support.
Speaking at an event, Shivakumar stressed the importance of Bangalore and Karnataka’s growth on the global stage and introduced plans for Karnataka model schools, urging corporates to adopt these institutions.
“Our aim is to address the issue of employment. We are planning a policy wherein corporates will be mandated to direct their CSR funds to education this year. This will help address the employment issues,” said Shivakumar at the 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC).
“We are also planning Karnataka model schools and urge corporates to come forward and adopt these schools. Jobs can be created only if there are job creators i.e. industry,” he added.
As part of its support towards the state’s initiative, newly appointed BCIC President Vineet Verma announced the establishment of the Brigade BCIC Skill Development Park at Devanahalli. This will be aimed at supporting skill development in the state.
The Karnataka Deputy CM also mentioned a new tourism policy for the Karavali region and the establishment of a cell to provide hassle-free assistance for investors during the event.
“We are also planning to introduce a cell to provide hassle free assistance for investors. We are also planning a new tourism policy for Karavali to enhance the local economy,” Shivakumar said.
