Web3 has become a hot topic in recent years as the growth of cryptocurrency and NFTs highlighted the need for true decentralization. However, getting the web ready for blockchain-based Web3 applications uncovered a host of problems like high costs, low bandwidthand lack of interoperability between blockchains and decentralized applications. NEAR solved this problem with Pocket Network. This new developer-driven protocol has entered the market looking to solve key Web3 problems by providing substantial bandwidth for developers to build on Web3 across blockchains.
Pocket Network is a decentralized RPC (Remote Procedure Call) for any blockchain that seeks to act as an intermediary to facilitate service requests between blockchains and dapps. Pocket Network has recently announced a service integration with NEAR, a developer-friendly, proof-of-stake public blockchain, that aims to improve the experience for NEAR developers, allowing them to deploy applications on any and every blockchain network supported by Pocket Network, without concern over single points of failure that are prone to bringing down service.
The debate over how much power resides with centralized servers has reached a fever pitch, raising concerns about what happens when they either go down or shut users down for any reason. Pocket Network hopes to change the dynamic with its infrastructure protocol that works with various blockchains, eliminating the need for anything to go through a web 2 infrastructure like Microsoft Azure and AWS, or a centralized platform. With this latest integration, both NEAR and Pocket Network node runners will, for the first time, be able to earn revenue via $POKT for servicing traffic from applications, tools, services, and protocols.
Pocket Network’s relay infrastructure middleware protocol has already made waves within the industry, reaching a globally distributed network of 47k+ full nodes that service Web3 applications across 46 blockchains, including Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, Fuse, Avalanche, Harmony, Fantom, and now NEAR. As Pocket Network allocates NEAR network bandwidth and relays traffic via its protocol, it also seeks to reduce friction for developers connecting dapps to NEAR, via a simple three-click process that lets developers mint RPC endpoints through the Pocket Portal, a layer-2 product on top of Pocket Network’s protocol.
Pocket Network believes this collaboration will yield many rewards, citing NEAR’s recent exponential and organic growth as a key indicator. With more growth and developer activity, Pocket Network aims to improve blockchains by providing Web3 developers with viable decentralized network alternatives to centralized systems. As well, Pocket Network seeks to create more opportunities for node runners to earn $POKT for every validated request from NEAR apps, tools, protocols, and services. Furthermore, the integration will enable NEAR applications to benefit from 100% uptime, low latency, and no monthly SaaS fees. Dapp developers will be able to mint up to two NEAR endpoints per Pocket Portal account, with each endpoint providing up to 1M requests per day, via Additionally, node runners can spin up a staked POKT node to a NEAR full node and start earning $POKT for servicing NEAR dapps.
It’s not a matter of if but when Pocket Network’s impact will help shape the future of Web3.
