It was a striking voice of General JJ Singh, former COAS Indian Army when he revealed at BW Businessworld HR Conclave 2017 that, ‘it was necessary showcasing the defeat of Pakistan to the world via revealing it publicly’. The decorated armed force veteran had also shared his views co-relating human resources, the way it is dealt in armed forces. It was also his view that PM Modi keeps armed forces in first place.
"I was among the first decorated army officers who had done a commando-like operation in Myanmar; it is nothing new as it is a matter of national security and pride. It was though necessary to teach a lesson to Pakistan, who lives in the falsehood of being a culprit getting away every time with proud," He said this replying to a question by the editor-in-chief of BW Businessworld, Anurag Batra.
General Singh has also shared his concerns about various HR aspects that are practiced not so passionately, he was referring to the former Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru that how he lost credibility post-Sino-India conflict of 1962 as the people around him counselled him wrongly. He was referring to India-China brotherhood being a failure posed as a success to then PM.
General Singh started his remark by throwing light to various aspects of human resources during his address to BW Businessworld HR conclave 2017, held at New Delhi on 21st of December. He said that the famous French quote of ’the Body Spirit’ (similar vision with organisation) is the way which takes an employee to the heights once they see themselves as the part of the organisation.
Singh said, there are three major differences between corporates, government organisations & armed forces namely; Honour of Nation, Lead or Die approach along with Careful Action. He has also asked the organisations to focus upon bridging the employee management gap and called for No-terrorist bosses. He was sighting an example of past when he visited a group of soldiers in J&K and their commanding officer was not present.
Grass-root level people who become leaders of organisations, usually take such organisations on top, said Singh as he gave an example of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He also said that it is good to see that Narendra Modi gives due respect to armed forces and gives them priority over other organisations. He also talked about the leader of the electric car market in India which had taken lead as it has brought change to existing market.
He has also shared many of the HR traits, few of them are-
Movies show underdogs rising up but in real life, you have to keep the lead from start to win the race.
Honour of the nation cannot be put on stake.
Apart from Pareto’s Law, the people who can have a grip on 20 per cent resources left by rest of the influential people of the world, progress for sure.
One should have a clear aim and vision to achieve something.
Leader should be unpredictable like army-men so that his moves can’t be assessed by rivals.
