Indian brand Micromax on Friday (1 December) launched its new affordable smartphone Bharat 5 in India. Priced at Rs 5,555, Bharat 5 will be available through offline channels across the country. Micromax Bharat 5 will face competition from the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi 5A which comes at a price tag of Rs 4,999.
Bharat 5 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 64GB through a MicroSD card.
The dual-SIM smartphone features a 5.2-inch HD (1280x720) display. It has 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and on the front is also a same camera along with flash.
The major highlight of Bharat 5 is its huge 5000mAh battery which Micromax claims can last up to two days. Connectivity options are- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5mm audio-jack, Micro-USB and GPS.
Shubhodip Pal, Chief Marketing and Chief Commercial Officer, Micromax Informatics, said, “With Bharat series, Micromax is helping the Indian consumers be digitally connected and make the experience more affordable and accessible. The device is pivotal tier 3 and 4 cities that face severe power outage issues."
On the purchase of Micromax Bharat 5, customers will get 50GB free data. Recently, the company also launched its entry level smartphone Bharat 1 in partnership with BSNL.
