Gigabyte Technology has introduced a new feature called X3D Turbo Mode, designed to enhance gaming performance on its X870E, X870 and 600 series motherboards, specifically when paired with AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D and Ryzen 9000 series processors. This new BIOS-based optimisation aims to deliver significant improvements in gaming performance by fine-tuning core distribution, bandwidth and hardware power balance.
The X3D Turbo Mode feature is built aiming to help and gain full potential of supported processors, offering performance boosts that can result in smoother gameplay and higher frame rates. Gigabyte claims that empirical testing shows up to an 18 per cent performance improvement for the incoming Ryzen 9000 series 16-core X3D processors, as well as similar gains for Ryzen 9000 non-X3D processors. Ryzen 9800 X3D processors also see a more modest 5 per cent improvement in performance with the feature enabled. These optimisations are expected to benefit gamers by reducing latency and improving overall system responsiveness.
The feature is incorporated into the latest BETA BIOS release, which is compatible with motherboards based on AMD’s X870E, X870 and 600 series chipsets. The feature is enabled through the integration of AMD’s AGESA 1.2.0.2a code, which synchronises with the latest AORUS AI SNATCH software when activated. To take advantage of this feature, users will need to update their BIOS to the latest version provided by Gigabyte, unlocking additional performance from their Ryzen processors.
Notably, one of the aspects of X3D Turbo Mode is its ability to bring non-X3D Ryzen 9000 series processors closer to the performance levels typically associated with Ryzen X3D models. This brings a new level of optimisation for a wider range of AMD’s high-performance chips, allowing even processors that don’t feature the 3D V-Cache to achieve gaming performance that is on par with their more expensive counterparts.
Gigabyte’s X3D Turbo Mode is available through the latest BETA BIOS updates for supported motherboards, with more details on the installation process available on the company’s official website. As always, performance gains can vary depending on specific hardware configurations, including processor model and DRAM conditions, so users are encouraged to monitor results and performance benchmarks based on their individual setups.
