With every numerical update, the iPhone usually gets a design overhaul which we saw last year with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Both of the handsets came with sizes that were said to be ‘too big’ for an iPhone. The ‘S’ update, which follows the numerical update, comes with improved and new features while retaining the last year’s design. So what will the new iPhones offer over the last year’s models?
Camera
Apple has always had one of the best cameras on a smartphone and this year the company has updated the camera to a 12MP module which can now record and edit 4K videos. There is also image stabilization, better time lapse video shooting and improved picture quality. The front camera has also been update to a 5MP sensor to take better looking selfies.
Force Touch
Apple always makes it a point to bring jaw dropping innovations to its smartphones. The new iPhones will feature a brand new way to interact with the touch screen called Force Touch where the touch screen, apart from sensing touch, can also identify pressure and give you more options. This is the first in any smartphone and is surely expected to be one of the most innovative features around.
Battery
According to Apple the battery has been improved vastly and should last a whole day. Early reviews of the iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus also point out to positive results, however they aren’t extraordinary.
New Colour Option
If you are bored of the silvers, grays and golds, Apple will give you a brand new colour option this year called Rose Gold. It will be mostly a light gold colour with a hue of pink which will certainly be a nice addition to the line.
Hardware
The iPhone 6S will retain the 4.7-inch display and the iPhone 6S Plus will have the same 5.5-inch panel. Both of them will run on Apple’s new A9 processor and expected to come out with 2GB RAM on the 6S Plus and 1GB on the 6S. The new A9 chip is claimed to be 70% faster than the previous generation and the graphics processing has been improved by 90%. The storage will remain the same and users can choose from 16, 64, and 128GB variants.
Price
The iPhone 6S will be available at Rs 62,000 for the 16GB version, Rs 72,000 for the 64GB version, and Rs 82,000 for the 128GB version. The iPhone 6S Plus is priced at Rs 72,000 for the 16GB version, Rs 82,000 for the 64GB version, and Rs 92,000 for the 128GB variant.

The new iPhones will be available from all Apple retail stores across India and also from electronics retails stores like Reliance Digital, Croma, The Mobile Store, etc. If you like shopping online, then you can buy it from all the major e-retailers including Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon.
