Intel's forthcoming LGA-1851 platform, which was previously postponed, will now support the new Arrow Lake architecture and subsequent releases. Although Meteor Lake will not be available on desktops, Intel intends to upgrade Arrow Lake and release Nova Lake as its replacement, with Nova Lake slated to join the market around 2026.
Intel's LGA-1851 platform is slated to play a critical part in the company's processor line-up, supporting Intel's Arrow Lake architecture, which is set to ship at the end of this year. Meteor Lake was originally designed for desktop systems but has since been repurposed for mobile and embedded applications, delaying the release of LGA-1851. Despite this, the platform will continue to support at least two generations of Intel processors, clearing the path for Arrow Lake's replacement, Nova Lake.
The Arrow Lake architecture, part of Intel's Core Ultra 200 series, is expected to have a big impact on the market due to its advanced features and performance enhancements. Following Arrow Lake, Intel intends to update the integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), a critical component in the company's effort for more sophisticated processing capabilities.
Nova Lake is predicted to be the next major desktop architecture, arriving around 2026. However, it should be noted that there will be no Panther Lake architecture for desktops. Although not wholly new, Nova Lake will mark a substantial advancement in Intel's desktop offerings. According to leaked roadmaps from Dell, Nova Lake will be available in laptops as early as 2027, and will include enhanced graphics technology such as Xe2 (Lunar) and Xe3 (Panther).
