At Infosys’ 43rd Annual General Meeting, Chairman Nandan Nilekani spoke on the company’s advancements in generative AI integration and talent development. Highlighting Infosys’ approach, Nilekani detailed how the company has embedded generative AI components across all service lines and developed 25 playbooks to enhance client impact.
“We have integrated generative AI components into our entire service lines and developed 25 playbooks to create impact for our clients,” Nilekani said.
Infosys has built enterprise AI capabilities from the ground up, developing 23 AI industry blueprints to tackle specific industry challenges. The company is currently working on over 225 generative AI programs for its clients.
A key component of executing these complex transformations is talent development, Nilekani noted. Infosys has invested significantly in acquiring and upskilling talent in generative AI, with over 2.5 lakh employees trained in this domain. “We have over 2,50,000 employees trained in the areas of generative AI,” he said.
As the generative AI revolution progresses into its second year, initial skepticism has given way to broader acceptance of its potential. Nilekani pointed out that the real power of AI will come from configuring various models and tools for optimal solutions, rather than relying on a single dominant model. The rise of powerful open-source AI models has accelerated AI deployment to address business and societal challenges.
Looking ahead, Nilekani stressed the importance of integrating multi-generation technology and orchestrating extensive data for AI consumption. Ensuring high-quality, factual AI output and adapting to the rapidly changing technology landscape are crucial for enterprises. Global compliance will also be essential to future-proof AI infrastructure.
“People have accepted that, like any other general-purpose technology be it electricity, nuclear energy, the internet or even a discovery like fire, gen AI has enormous potential for good when advanced within the guardrails of responsibility,” Nilekani concluded.
He discussed the strategic acquisition of InSemi, a semiconductor design services provider, as a critical move to support Infosys’ Chip-to-Cloud strategy. Additionally, acquisitions such as in-tech and Danske IT and Support Services have strengthened Infosys’ capabilities and expanded its talent pool. According to Nilekani, these acquisitions, along with Infosys Topaz and InSemi’s semiconductor expertise, will enable the company to create deeper capabilities for the next phase of automotive innovation in software-defined vehicles.
Infosys saw a 1.4 per cent growth in constant currency and revenues of USD 18.6 billion in FY24. The operating margin for the year was 20.7 per cent and free cash flow reached USD 2.9 billion, a 13.7 per cent increase over fiscal year 2023. The total contract value (TCV) of large deals for FY24 hit an all-time high at USD 17.7 billion, with 52 per cent of this amount coming from new contracts.
