CtrlS Datacenters on Thursday unveiled its expansion plans for Kolkata with an investment of Rs 2,200 crore. This investment will be channeled to develop a greenfield data centre campus in the New Town area of the city.
The project will be executed in four phases, ultimately offering over 60 MW IT load capacity. The first phase of the project is set to launch in the second quarter of FY24, featuring a data centre building with a 16 MW IT load capacity and a built-up area exceeding 90,000 square feet. This facility will mark the debut of a Rated-4 data centre in eastern India.
The Kolkata data centre campus will be equipped with AI-ready infrastructure, modern cooling technologies, and robust security measures, including a 9-zone security system. It will also prioritise sustainability, aiming for LEED Platinum certification.
In a statement, Suresh Kumar Rathod, President, Colocation Business, CtrlS Datacenters said, “Along with our core offerings, we will also launch our full suite of managed services and advanced interconnectivity solutions tailored for this market. We are committed to catalysing the digital transformation landscape of eastern India and grateful to the state government for their valuable guidance and support throughout this endeavour.”
The facility will be powered by dual sources and N+N active feeds, ensuring uninterrupted service. Additionally, the campus will offer access to multiple ISPs, cloud service providers, and internet exchanges, enhancing connectivity and reliability. Designed to withstand natural disasters, the datacenter will comply with Seismic Zone 3 standards, reinforcing its resilience.
