Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Monday said that Indian startups would soon be launching satellites and also satellite constellations.
Speaking at the India Space Conclave in Delhi, the MoS said that startups will also be able to try launching their rockets.
Addressing the luminaries from the space and technology fields at the event, Singh informed five PSLVs are being domestically produced by L&T and HAL, while OneWeb is all set to launch their satellites through ISRO and NSIL.
In a statement, Minister Singh said, “Space reforms have unleashed the innovative potentials of start-ups and within a short span of time, from a couple of Space Start-ups three -four years back. Today, we have 102 start-ups working in cutting-edge areas of space debris management., nano-satellite, launch vehicle, ground systems, research etc.
At the event, he was also seen unveiling a sector report titled “Developing the space ecosystem in India: focussing on inclusive growth” along with ISpA Chairman, Jayant D Patil and S. Somnath, Chairman at ISRO.
Indian space startup ecosystem has quite a few promising players including Skyroot Aerospace, Pixxel and Agnikul.
