According to a report, private sector lender IDFC First Bank has won the title rights for the home international series of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The bank secured the rights for Rs 4.2 crore per international game, surpassing the previous value of Rs 3.8 crore. The bidding's base price was set at Rs 2.4 crore.
The bank will engage in a contract with BCCI for a three-year duration beginning next month, commencing with a three-match ODI series against Australia. The agreement will run until August 2026, covering a total of 56 international games. This move is expected to generate around Rs 235 crore in title sponsorship revenue for BCCI.
IDFC First Bank outperformed competitors, including Sony Sports, a sports broadcaster making its entry into the title sponsorship arena for the first time.
Taking over from Mastercard, the former title sponsor that obtained the sub-licence from Paytm, IDFC First Bank's triumph came after a bidding process held at a premium hotel in South Mumbai on Friday.
