“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” — John C. Maxwell
Of late there has been much talk of the emergence of the third wave of the coronavirus. Some experts believe that it arrived on 4 July and is expected to peak somewhere between August and October in India.
The next few weeks are crucial for the safety of the nation. Preventive measures against this dreadful disease like wearing masks and washing hands are golden. Another important criteria for preventing the onset of the disease is vaccination – or rather, the most important aspect in terms of protection – is vaccination. Covid-19 is now being termed as a disease of the unvaccinated. I do hope all of you reading this note have received the vaccine and are keeping safe.
Moving on to the stories and features in this issue, sustainability has been an issue close to my heart. Transition to a greener world requires changes at many levels, and one of the most important changes in this sphere is the move toward green energy. At COP21, India committed to meet 450 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030. It is against this backdrop, that our exclusive interview with Dr Andrés Gluski, President and CEO of AES Corporation, forms a part of the cover feature. AES is no stranger to India. In fact, it was among the first to venture into India’s energy sector in 1992. Over the years, AES’ move toward green energy solutions have been in perfect harmony with India’s current needs. On a personal level, I admire Dr Gluski’s leadership style. He certainly is an inspiring leader, one who is committed to bringing about a positive change.
Our second cover feature in this issue is BW Disrupt 30 under 30. This is our celebration of the contribution of young entrepreneurs to the startup space. We organized an annual summit titled ‘BW Disrupt 30 Under 30 Summit and Awards’, where we celebrated the sharpest minds among startups across various sectors. These young achievers not only had innovative ideas for their own enterprises but have also positively impacted the business landscape.
The ‘BW Disrupt 30 Under 30’ winners’ list includes some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. The criteria for selection were completely transparent, unbiased and comprised an in-depth jury discussion. Lengthy deliberations and recommendations ensued to ensured that the process is fair and the individual is scrutinized on merit, figures and future plans.
Of course, we also bring to you all our regular features and columns that you enjoy.
