There was a time when only the Bharuch highway was the only flourishing industrial belt in the state of Gujarat. With the last nine Vibrant Gujarat summits, the state has managed to develop industrial pockets across all the 5 regions of Gujarat. And the 10th edition of the summit is all set to be bigger. This was stated by Rushikesh Patel, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Gujarat who was in Lucknow on Monday for the road show organised as a prelude to the summit.
The summit is scheduled to be held from 10 to 12 January 2024. After the success of the curtain raiser event in New Delhi, followed by national roadshows in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Chennai and international roadshow in Japan, Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 delegation successfully concluded the roadshow in Lucknow.
Addressing the media post the roadshow, Patel said that Gujarat is one of the fastest flourishing states in India and over 2000 participants are expected to be present for the forthcoming summit. “Gujarat has laid the green carpet for investors to come and invest in the state. So far, the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has signed MoUs worth Rs 25,000 crore, while at the district level MoUs worth Rs 70,000 crore have been initiated. We have confirmation of seven partner countries including Japan, Singapore, UK, Morocco. The sectors in which we are looking at investment include renewable energy, as Gujarat is turning into a hub of renewable energy,” said Patel.
Earlier, he led the roadshow and had one-on-one meetings with Tinku Chhabra, CEO, RSPL Group, Upasna Arora, Chief Managing Director, V Guard, Kushagra Nandan, MD & CEO, Sunsource Energy, Preeti Bajaj, MD & CEO, Luminous, DK Gupta, Chairman, Felix Hospital, Parminder Singh Baweja, Executive Director, Erisha E Mobility, Apurv Jhawar, Managing Director, Usha Breco, Monish Bhandari, Founder and MD, Forsta Medtech, Raj Prakash Vyas, President-Corporate Affairs, Cadila Pharmaceuticals.
The roadshow began with a welcome address by Chintan Thaker, Chairman, ASSOCHAM Gujarat Council. Nand Gopal Gupta, Minister for Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI and Investment Promotion, Uttar Pradesh also addressed the gathering.
A screening of Vibrant Gujarat 2024 Promotional Film and a presentation on Business Opportunities in Gujarat by Mamta Verma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Gujarat was also done.
Tanmay Bathwal, Managing Director, Hirise Hospitality, Anadi N Sinha, President-Corporate Affairs, UNO Minda Group, and Sangeet Tandon, General Manager – Large Projects, Redington Group shared their experiences about Gujarat.
The state minister further highlighted the significance of collaboration between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. He said, “Despite being geographically distant from each other in today's context, both the states are strongly connected on many key aspects.”
He shared that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanathji, the state has been writing a new definition of development in various sectors which has brought 360-degree radical changes in the lives of the people. He shared schemes like ODOP (One District One Product) hold immense potential for promoting traditional products and employment manufactured by local MSMEs of the country as well as to boost exports.
He also shed light on the significance of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and the vital role it has played in Gujarat’s development journey over the last 20 years. He said, “The success of Vibrant Gujarat can also be understood from its development journey. As in 2003, about 100 participants and delegates were associated with this summit. In 2003, only a few countries participated in this summit and today around 135 countries participate in it.”
He said, “Gujarat has become a business as well as an agricultural giant, a financial hub and has developed its identity as an industrial and mining ecosystem in the 21st century.”
Patel further added, “Through effective policy formulation and efficient project implementation, In the last two decades the state has excelled in different fields, like the investments in Gujarat’s automobile sector which is 9 times more compared to 20 years ago. Furthermore, Gujarat's share in investment in food processing industries in the country is the highest today; more than 30,000 food processing units are running in Gujarat. Apart from this, in the pharmaceutical sector, Gujarat's share in the manufacturing of medical drugs is more than 50 percent, and about 80 percent in the manufacturing of cardiac tubes. Additionally, Gujarat's success in the Gems & Jewellery industry is amazing. More than 70 percent of the world's processed diamonds are found in Gujarat. Gujarat contributes 80 percent to India's diamond exports.”
