Google’s Circle to Search feature may get a new option for saving and sharing a highlighted section, as the company is working on the gesture-driven search feature along with minor refinements to the user interface, according to a media report on Tuesday.
Currently, with the Circle to Search feature users can only make a quick Google Lens search by circling, highlighting, or tapping on any visible item or object on the display.
The report added that with the ‘Copy Image’ option, the highlighted area of the display will be copied as a screenshot and will open as a fresh image editing interface, helping users to crop or expand the captured image and carry the minor editing like adding text, before saving the screenshot to the gallery.
Additionally, for the ‘Share image’ option, Google may offer a more direct alternative for sharing the captured section on supported applications and platforms.
Google’s strategy is to add more functionality to the Circle to Search feature, enhancing users' ability to capture a section of the screen, without taking a full screenshot and then cropping the unnecessary part.
Google introduced Circle to Search when the Samsung Galaxy S24 series smartphones were launched. Later, it became accessible to Pixel 8 series and Pixel 7 series smartphones. In recent times, Google expanded the availability of gesture-driven search features to additional devices such as the Pixel 6 series, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a, Samsung Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5.
Samsung has officially announced that the Circle to Search feature will be accessible on the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup of tablets. Similarly, Google has also confirmed that this functionality will be available on the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.
