Google is set to introduce a host of AI-powered features to its Photos application, starting from 15 May which includes notable features like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur and Portrait Light’s accessibility to almost all devices without a subscription.
Earlier the features were limited to only Pixel phones. The AI-driven magic editor is a standout feature of the Google Pixel 8 series. By extending its availability to all devices, the tech giant may be aiming to attract more users in the competitive landscape of AI-powered image editing tools.
Meanwhile, the free availability comes with some restrictions and users can edit only 10 photos per month and more edits will require a Google One subscription with 2TB of storage or more. Pixel users will have the advantage of unlimited edits.
Google’s Magic Editor uses generative AI for repositioning a subject, changing the colour and filling the gaps in images. It is designed to make complex photo editing tasks easier.
