Google on Thursday announced its new generative AI collaborator ‘Duet AI’ which can assist programmers contextual software code completion.
Available on Google Cloud (GCP), Duet AI can offer suggestions to fine-tune a programmer’s code base, generate functions in real time and assist with reviews and inspections.
The service from Google could pit it against Microsoft-owned Github’s 'Copilot' which assists programmers with coding.
“It can fundamentally transform the way cloud users of all skill sets build new experiences and is embedded across Google Cloud interfaces—within the integrated development environment (IDE), Google Cloud Console, and even chat,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.
For developers looking to create generative AI applications, Google introduced new foundation models and capabilities across our Google Cloud AI products.
Three new foundation models were availed in Vertex AI, where they can be accessed via API, tuned through a simple UI in Generative AI Studio, or deployed to a data science notebook.
Crux of this offering from Google is ‘Codey’, GCP’s text-to-code foundation model which can be embedded in an SDK or application to help improve developer velocity with code generation and code completion, and to improve code quality. This code generation model supports 20+ coding languages, including Go, Google Standard SQL, Java, Javascript, Python, and Typescript
Another foundation model ‘Imagen’, which is GCP’s text-to-image foundation model, can allow organisations generate and customize studio-grade images at scale for any business need.
