Premium smartphone maker Google has finally launched its flagship Pixel 6 Series at its Pixel Fall event on Tuesday. The flagship Series of Google includes Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. One of the main highlight of the smartphone is Google’s in-house silicon chip-Tensor. According to Google, no third-party chip is powerful enough to keep up with Google services. The company claims that Tensor chip will increase CPU performance by 80X.
At the time of filing this story, Google has not announced the Indian price and availability of Pixel 6 series. However, users in 8 countries including United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Taiwan can purchase the smartphone from October 28, with pre-orders starting today. Pixel 6 price starts at $599 (around Rs 45,000), while the Pixel 6 Pro is priced at $899 (around Rs 67,500).
Pixel 6 Series Specifications
The Pixel 6 sports 6.4-inch FHD+ LTPO display with 90 Hz refresh rate, while Pixel 6 Pro gets 6.7-inch QHD+ panel with 120 Hz refresh rate. Both the devices are protected by Victus Gorilla Glass and are IP68-rated dust and water resistant.
Under the hood, both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro gets the custom-built ‘Tensor’ chip, a 5nm, 8 core chip which comprises two high-power application cores, two midrange cores, four low-power cores, a dedicated coprocessor for security, a private compute core, and an image processing core. Google says that its new chip is competitive with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which is usually found in every top end devices. The Pixel 6 comes with 8 GB of RAM, while the 6 Pro gets 12 GB. On the other hand, The Pixel 6 can be equipped with up to 256 GB and the Pixel 6 Pro has options up to 512 GB.
Coming to the optics, Both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been redesigned to place a horizontal camera bar. Google said it was done to house improved sensor and lenses that was tough to put in a traditional squarish module.
In Pixel 6 Pro, the rear camera bar houses three cameras which includes 50 MP primary sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 114-degree field-of-view, and 48 MP telephoto lens which offers 4x optical zoom. On the other hand, Pixel 6 sports same set of lenses minus 48 MP telephoto lens. For selfies and video chats, Pixel 6 pro gets an 11.1 MP lens, while the Pixel 6 houses 8 MP camera. With the new Tensor chip, both the devices enables some new image editing features, such as magic eraser, face unblur, motion mode and Real tone mode.
Both the devices will run on Android 12 out-of-the-box. On battery front, Pixel 6 Pro gets a 5,000mAh battery and supports fast wired (30W) charging and wireless charging too. While smaller Pixel 6 gets 4,614mAh battery with same charging capabilities. However, users will not get the charging brick with the box, which means you need to buy the charger separately or you can use which you already have.
