Google has a neat solution to turning your wired speakers wireless. I think of it as a sort of adaptor. What Chromecast Audio does is to let you stream music from a phone or tablet to speakers that are regular and not Bluetooth or on Wi-Fi. But first you have to do a thing or two. Download the Chromecast app on either an Android or iOS device. It's the app that will guide you through the easy setup process by asking you what to do next or check for.
Connect the Chromecast device to power. It's the Chromecast that connects to your home Wi-if on behalf of the speakers. Of course, you'll need to enter the password first. Give the device permission to use your Wi-Fi. Connect the device to the speaker with the provided cable.
In the app, Chromecast devices will show up. Click and verify your Chromecast and speaker pair and follow the process to check that it's working. If not, there's some troubleshooting to do. If it is, you're ready to listen.
But the tricky thing is not all music playing apps are enabled to work with Chromecast. Before you go buying this gizmo, it would be best to check whether your favourite music app is supported at all. This is a nuisance but the list will be changing as apps get added. The other nuisance is the poor state of Internet connections in the country. In my own home, there are so many breaks in connectivity that several devices that ask for a stable connection just give up trying to stay online. So be sure your Wi-Fi is in a healthy state.
Or buy a set of good Bluetooth speakers and be done with it.
