FUJIFILM India has introduced its latest mirrorless digital camera, the FUJIFILM GFX100S II. The GFX100S II features a large format sensor that is around 1.7 times bigger than a 35mm full-frame sensor. The GFX100S II weighs roughly 883 grammes and is the lightest variant in the GFX series.
The GFX100S II includes a 102MP high-speed sensor, the GFX 102MP CMOS II and the X-Processor 5 image processing engine. These developments enable the camera to provide better image quality. The AI-based topic identification system provides excellent focusing and a continuous shooting speed of up to 7.0 frames per second. The in-body image stabilisation feature has been improved to provide a maximum of eight-stop five-axis performance.
The GFX100S II can record 4K/30P movies and has AI-powered subject detection for animals, birds, automobiles, motorbikes, bicycles, aeroplanes, trains, insects and drones. It also includes a high-magnification electronic viewfinder with 0.84x magnification and 5.76 million dots.
Mr. Koji Wada, Managing Director of Fujifilm India, noted that the GFX100S II demonstrates the company's dedication to innovation. Mr. Arun Babu, Associate Director and Head of Digital Camera, Instax and Optical Devices Business at Fujifilm India, emphasised the camera's importance in India's developing photographic industry.
The GFX100S II's large format sensor, with 102MP resolution and enhanced pixel structure, provides better dynamic range and reduced noise at ISO 80. The camera's 20 "film simulation" settings, including "REALA ACE," provide a variety of colour expressions. The "Pixel Shift Multi-Shot" capability creates photos with about 400 million pixels by collecting 16 RAW files with exact sensor movements.
The camera's IBIS system and tiny body design, with a height of around 104mm and a depth of approximately 87mm, allow for handheld shooting in low-light conditions. The GFX100S II's body is textured with "BISHAMON-TEX," which improves grip strength.
AI-based subject recognition AF and an upgraded AF prediction algorithm assist the camera's fast, precise and continuous shooting performance. The new 102MP high-speed sensor and faster readout speed contribute to the camera's 7.0 frames per second continuous shooting capabilities.
The GFX100S II offers 4K/30P video recording and has a dynamic range of 13 plus stops. The camera supports Frame.io Camera to Cloud, which allows you to submit video and still images directly to Frame.io.
The GFX100S II is part of FUJIFILM's larger digital ecosystem, which promotes the validity and provenance of digital material. FUJIFILM India has partnered with the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) and the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) to create systems that give context and history for digital material. This solution will be gradually expanded across the GFX and X series lineups, including the GFX100S II, via firmware upgrades.
