Facebook has announced its roll out of digital collectibles support on Facebook. This new feature on Facebook has been launched for select users.
The announcement of the NFT roll out comes a week after Meta’s CEO Zuckerberg spoke about testing NFT support on Facebook with select creators. Meta had already made its entry into NFTs by starting test run of NFT integrations on Instagram.
The announcement from Meta comes even as the NFT marketplaces worldwide reel in a collective lull.
Taking to Twitter, Navdeep Singh, Meta product manager tweeted some screenshots of NFTs on Facebook. The digital collectibles feature will allow Facebook users to display their NFTs on their profiles. The NFTs will have a “digital collectibles” label.
"We're expanding our test so more creators around the world can display their NFTs on Instagram," said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, on June 21. "We'll bring this feature to Facebook soon too – starting with a small group of U.S. creators – so people can cross-post on Instagram and Facebook."
Instagram already supports NFTs on Polygon and Ethereum. The platform is currently working on supporting Solana and Flow too. It will be interesting to see if these supports will happen on Facebook too.
