Debadatta Chand has recently taken up the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Bank of Baroda, following the conclusion of Sanjiv Chadha's tenure. Chand had been serving as an Executive Director at the bank since March 2021, where he was responsible for overseeing various crucial areas including corporate and institutional credit, corporate and institutional banking, treasury and global markets, mid-corporate business, trade and foreign exchange.
In addition to these roles, Chand also supervised the international banking business, domestic subsidiaries, joint ventures, wealth management, and capital markets. His extensive experience in the banking sector spans nearly three decades, starting with his entry into the industry as an officer at Allahabad Bank in 1994. From 1998 to 2005, he worked as a manager at the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
In 2005, Chand joined Punjab National Bank, initially serving as Chief Manager and later rising to the position of Chief General Manager. Over the course of his 15-year tenure at Punjab National Bank, he held various significant positions including heading the zonal audit office in Patna, serving as the circle head of the Bareilly region, leading integrated treasury operations, and overseeing the Mumbai Zone.
With his extensive experience and expertise in multiple banking domains, Debadatta Chand is well-equipped to lead the Bank of Baroda as its Managing Director and CEO, bringing valuable insights and leadership to the organisation.
