Every conversation on how overwhelming or intimidating CES can be is true, and it does not matter how many years of experience one has in navigating through the event.
The official first day of the Show was a culmination of a year of hard work for many companies, and all the biggest names are here with the products they believe is defining the future. From the likes of Dell and Lenovo to Samsung and LG to Nissan and Hyundai, many sectors have ensured they have put their best foot forward.
On day one, the big theme does appear to be very focused on all artificial intelligence (AI) related developments. Though companies are investing heavily on VR as well, AI seems to have become the intel of many new technologies.
Consequently, the big heroes are Microsoft, IBM, Amazon, Google and the likes that are now working in unprecedented ways with connected homes, cars, health tech and the likes.
In addition to the main show at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, most of the convention areas in all the large properties in Las Vegas have turned tech-focused for the week. The 'geeking out' has begun in what all attendees are calling the best CES to date.
Companies from India are present in large numbers as well - engineers from the likes of Maruti are already looking at what bringing connected cars to a country like India would entail, and the solutions that will work best in India. Consumer durable companies are also not behind in this. Perhaps what was sorely missing was seeing Indian companies taking over the show floors like China has this year.
Chinese companies are constantly proving that they compete with the best in the world, and the reception they have at CES so far agrees with this.
While the Show has just about begun, some technologies whose viability looks questionable, such as baby tech, will be put to some test. In all, the promise of an interesting week lies ahead.
