Apple To Expand Singapore Campus, Aims To Invest Over $250 Mn

Apple has been grabbing attention recently for its investment strategies in Asian nations. New plans have emerged following CEO Tim Cook's ongoing Asia tour. The company on Wednesday revealed its new strategy to invest more than USD 250 million in Singapore.

The company aims to expand its regional campus or operations in Ang Mo Kio, a region in the northeast of Singapore. The plan is to upgrade the two buildings acquired by Apple in 2022, located across its existing office.

In a statement, Tim Cook, Apple CEO said, Singapore serves as a unique place that offers the opportunity to connect with the dynamic community of creators, learners and dreamers. 

Cook is yet to visit Singapore as a part of his ongoing Asia tour, he is likely to meet the country’s Prime Minister-designate Lawrence Wong and the city-state's incumbent leader Lee Hsien Loong this week, as per reports.

In 1981, Apple established its presence in Singapore and has since experienced significant growth. Currently, the company employs over 3,600 individuals in the city-state, utilising it as a pivotal operations center for Apple's activities in the region.

Meanwhile, as a part of Cook's Asia tour, the CEO revealed the company's investment strategy for the two nations. In Vietnam, the plan is to expand expenditures, while in Indonesia, Apple is assessing the viability of establishing a manufacturing facility.
